RE: Highway to Healing: Re-Thinking Addiction in Louisiana

The Children's Health Iniative will be launching an interactive web site including web casting and broadcasting (on Louisiana Public Broadcasting) of the Highway to Healing: Re-Thinking Addiction in Louisiana  series (three 15 minute video programs) in January. For a sneak peek please take a look at http://www.lpb.org/HTH. There you can find more information about the project. Please click on the Producer’s Page which explains how to become a series sponsor and describes the several levels of sponsorship to choose from. Be sure to take a look at the 10 minute video preview.

It is very important to the success of this groundbreaking project that we show wide support for Highway to Healing: Re-Thinking Addiction in Louisiana  from individuals and organizations, both in the private and non-profit sectors .We understand that these are tough economic times. Because of the recession we are also seeing a big spike in substance abuse adding even more demand for services and access to treatment for addictive disorders. This is always the worst time of year for those suffering economically, and it is important now more than ever that recovery advocates, friends and family members of addicts, as well as prevention, treatment and recovery communities come together to reach out and get the message out that TREATMENT WORKS, and HELP IS ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY. This digital media series does exactly that.

For your  Information: The Office for Addictive Disorders will be eliminated July 1, 2010 if all goes according to plans. There will be a new Office of Behavioral Health which will combine OAD with Mental Health, which will change the state’s structure.
