The Louisiana Counseling Association invites you to submit a poster session proposal for the 2014 LCA Conference, proposals must be received by Monday, April 14, 2014. 

Presentation Format

Poster Session: A 15 minute presentation (Poster Session Application Form must be submitted) procedures explained on that form must be followed.

Program Proposal Guidelines

  • 15-minute Research/Project Session are designed to convey research findings in a poster format.  Through an “interactive style,” attendees will be encouraged to engage in interactive dialogue. 
  • Proposals will be only accepted from members of LCA.
  •  The Poster Session will occur at a specific session time.  Attendees will be invited to remain seated and the presenters will be given 15 minutes to share their research with the attendees.  Questions from the attendees will be encouraged.
  •  The basic content of the Poster Session should include but not be limited to the following:
    1.   A Title that appropriately describes your session
    2.   An outline of a thesis, problem
    3.   The method(s) used to achieve a solution to a problem or to implement a novel approach
    4.   If appropriate, Statistical Data should be titled and summarized in a clear, concise format.
    5.   A clear, concise conclusion
  • You will be provided with a Project Folder (such as school children use for science project displays) which is 24x36 in the center and the sides are 12x36 each) and a supply of thumb tacks/push pins.  A table for handouts and additional information will be provided.  No audiovisual equipment will be provided.  There is will 5 minutes between presentations for set up and take dow
  •  Your Poster Session must have a professional appearance.  Please remember to use large enough print, graphs, charts or designs to be easily viewed from a distance.

      Handouts:  Presenters should have 50 copies of handouts available at the presentation

Selection of Sessions

  • Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the Professional Development Committee. 
  • Selected proposals will be notified July 1 and will agree to present at the time determined by the Conference Committee.
  •  Presenters must be members of LCA.
  • Presenters must register for conference.  Fees will be waived if the presenter attends only the Poster Session.  
  •  Presenters must check in and obtain the Conference registration packet.
  •  The Selected Presentations will be reviewed by the Awards committee during the actual presentation.  First, Second, and Third Place Ribbons will be awarded at the Closing Session.  The Poster Session receiving First Place will also be awarded the Research Award with a monetary award off $100.00.  Only presentations by graduate students will be considered for the awards.
  •  The First Place will also be given the opportunity to publish an article about the research or novel approach (written in APA style) in the LCA Journal.
