8:00 AM - 9:00 AM
Location: River Oaks, 520 Kaliste Saloom Rd, Lafayette

It is again the pleasure to welcome you to the our summer training presented by the Supreme Court Drug Court Office (SCDCO), in partnership with the Louisiana Judicial College, The Louisiana Association of Drug Court Professionals (LADCP) and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSA). As always, we are proud to be working with some of the leading drug court professionals who have made such a tremendous difference in so many lives affected by substance abuse.

Featuring national experts in the fields of substance abuse treatment, adolescent development, criminal behavior, and national policy. As we continue to implement successful treatment protocols for well-known drugs, and discover successful protocols for the never-ending supply of new and designer drugs, we are reminded that the challenges never end; the needs are growing. We are called upon, as never before, to increase our success and widen our influence as the role of drug courts expands and funding opportunities increase.

The LADCP is your organization and it exists to meet your needs for training, networking, and support. Your feedback is essential to our continued success. We will endeavor to provide you with the assistance, information, and training you need to enhance your drug court program. SCDCO, LADCP and LHSC are committed to meeting your needs and we depend on you to communicate your needs to us so that we can respond to them as we face these challenging times.

Our strength lies in unity and the networks we build. We hope that you will take away from this training not simply information and strategies to make your drug court more successful, but also the friendship and collaboration of others who are working toward the same goals.

We will start the morning of Thursday the 17th with optional round table discussions by discipline to be supervised by our guest speakers, Judge Peggy Davis, MA, JD and Helen Harberts MA, JD.  That afternoon will have a DWI focus, with DWI updates from the LSP Crime Lab, recent developments in DWI laws, and an overview session on treatment needs particular to DWI participants. The afternoon will finish with a workshop by Judge P. Davis and Helen Harberts regarding Participants Recovery Profiles and Drugs of choice

Friday the 18th will be an all-day seminar on what specialty court teams should know about treatment; as you may recall, this will be much the same as the one-day Seminar that was held for Judges in December.  It was very well received, so we are repeating it at the request of many of the Judges who attended then, who asked that we make it available to Judges who weren’t able to make it in December, as well as all team members, especially treatment providers.

9.75 CE Clock Hours; no NBCC credits available through LCA.
