Accessing Primary Emotions Using Emotionally Focused Therapy Skills

12/15/2017 - 12/15/2017
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Location: 3300 W. Esplanade Ave. 603, Metairie

Helping clients access and express primary, vulnerable emotions results in lasting changes and greater connection in relationships. Often times, clients struggle to go beyond secondary emotions, such as anger and withdrawal. In this workshop, counselors will be introduced to Emotionally Focused Therapy and learn the EFT technique "RISSSC" to help access primary emotions. Counselors will be able to focus on their own responses to secondary emotions, which can be a barrier in the therapeutic relationship to creating a safe, empathetic environment.
