About The Workshop

The DSM-V offers a new approach to understanding personality disorders which addresses shortcomings of the previous model and gives clinicians a more practical model for assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning. This workshop will focus on the major components of the new approach and will offer practical tools for implementing in clinical practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will demonstrate understanding of the alternative DSM-5 model, particularly with regard to impairments in personality functioning and personality traits
  • Participants will be able to identify how the alternative model deviates from and expands upon the current model, and the implications for clinical practice
  • Participants will engage in case studies to apply the alternative model to clinical practice
