Once a practitioner crosses a boundary, the tendency to engage in a series of increasingly serious boundary
violations can lead to a progressive deterioration of ethical behavior.
If needed, boundary crossings should be done in a thoughtful manner that is appropriate to the therapeutic
context and that entail minimal risks to clients. This workshop will define terms such as boundary crossings,
boundary violations, and multiple relationships; highlight the ACA Code of Ethics related to these topics; and
provide tips for minimizing risks in multiple relationships.
