Disparities in Cessation Clinical Integration Workshop

5/3/2018 - 5/3/2018
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: TBA, Shreveport

The Disparities in Cessation Clinical Integration Workshop is a professional development opportunity that will focus on improving physicians, nurses, social workers, and LPCs’ tobacco cessation interventions and resources utilization with patients at federally qualified health centers (FQHC). Since LPCs are an integral part of many FQHCs’ care teams, and as most LPCs have counseling chemical dependency expertise, this workshop will support chemical dependency professional development by 1.) Describing tobacco disparities populations & FQHC patients, 2.) Detailing the components of brief cessation clinical interventions, and 3.) Describing Louisiana’s tobacco cessation resources. Overall, the workshop will support LPCs’ capacity to meet FQHC patients’ tobacco chemical dependency needs.

This 90 minute workshop focuses on supporting federally qualified health center providers, in better serving and responding to patients’ tobacco cessation needs.
