EMDR: Resources and the Flash Technique

Prerequisites to Attend: 

1. Attendees shall be in a Masters program or above in the mental health/behavioral health field.
2. Participants shall have completed an EMDRIA Approved Part I of EMDR Basic Training

Program Description:

The first part of the program will focus on grounding techniques, relaxation exercises and coping skills to be used in the resourcing phase and processing phases of EMDR Therapy.  In the second part, program participants will learn the basics of the flash technique and how to troubleshoot it. The Flash technique, recently developed by Philip Manfield, PhD,  is used during the preparation phase to facilitate processing of intense, traumatic memories that clients might otherwise be resistant to access. Dr. Manfield reports that “anecdotal evidence suggests that this technique may make it possible for clients to access these memories initially in a minimally disturbing way, reducing their emotional intensity so that they can then be more easily and fully processed using EMDR therapy.”

Meeting Schedule:  

8:30am-9am         Registration

9:00am-12pm      Lecture and breakout groups on resourcing and mindfulness.

12pm-1:30pm      Lunch

1:30-4:30pm        Lecture and break out groups on the flash technique.  At the end there will be more resourcing.

 6.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis.  No NBCC credits available through LCA.
