Positive Psychology: Therapeutic Techniques for Clinicians

This workshop will address the theory behind Positive Psychology approach.  It will discuss different therapeutic options for clinicians and how those various  options can be utilized to best suit different diagnoses, primarily depressive and anxiety disorders.  It will cover evaluation and diagnosis and how clinicians should select treatment plans on these outcomes.  It will also address specific techniques to be used in treatment. 

3.0 CE clock hours in Diagnoses for counselors; no NBCC credits available through LCA.

About The Presenter

Lauren Gehman, LCSW, BACS is the Head of the Counseling Department at Metairie Park Country Day School in Metairie. Lauren taught fourth grade in a public school in Washington, D.C as a Teach For America corps member in 1997. After attending Tulane’s School of Social Work, she worked as an Adolescent Specialist at Jewish Family Service in Metairie, LA. Lauren has experience teaching Theory I and Interventions with Adolescents as part of the adjunct faculty at Tulane’s School of Social Work. In 2017, Lauren developed and implemented a Positive Psychology course for The Global Online Academy. She currently maintains a private practice specializing in adolescents, adults, and families in addition to her work at Metairie Park Country Day School. In the spring of 2018, Lauren presented at the National Association of Independent Schools Annual Conference on Building Authenticity through Asynchronous Relationships. In March 2019, Lauren will present again at the national conference on managing anxiety in a classroom setting.
