“The Gut-Brain Connection” seminar explores the range of exposures throughout the lifespan that influence our microbiota. It addresses the physical and psychological consequences of a disrupted microbiome and gut-brain axis. And it focuses on how we can become “microbial ecosystem engineers” so as to improve our gut-brain health.

Counselors and other mental health professionals are committed to enhancing quality of life and developing the full potential of each individual, group and community in the society. To accomplish this goal, the counselor must recognize a range of factors that can impact a person’s physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being. A key factor that impacts a person’s overall well-being is the health of their brain. The “GutBrain Health” seminar demonstrates that if counselors want to build a healthier brain, in both themselves and their patients, they need to start by addressing the gut and the gut microorganisms that call us their home.

This workshop presented by Dr. Gina Willett, RD will award 6.0 CE clock hours for counselors; there are no NBCC credits through LCA.
