During this seminar attendees will learn about the FAFSA completion process, how FAFSA data is sent to the U.S. Department of Education and processed, and submitting verification to the postsecondary institutions Upon approval, this workshop will be advertised on the LCA website calendar.

 ? Federal Aid Overview o During this portion we will discuss the importance of having the students complete the FAFSA, how students can ensure a successful FAFSA Completion, the difference in completion v. submission, and how counselors can accurately advise during this process. Also, discussion of aid obtained by completing the FAFSA & types of federal aid; Pell Grant & Federal student loans

? Best Practices in Avoiding Errors—Understanding FAFSA processing o The counselors will be taught the top common codes that lead to selection of verification by the US department of education and how to avoid them when completing the FAFSA. In this part of the session the counselors will learn best practices for avoiding errors during FAFSA completion to ensure successful FAFSA processing.
