Workshop #6                February 22, 2019 Don’t Worry, Be Happy! Play Therapy for the Anxious Child

Erin Dugan, Ph.D., LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor

This workshop will focus on the use of non-directive and directive play therapy approaches with the Play Therapy Dimensions Model (Yasenik & Gardner, 2012) when working with anxious children who present with worries, fears, and apprehension. Attendees will gain insight into using Yasenik & Gardner’s (2012) Play Therapy Dimensions Model and the use of the therapist and child moderating factors scale. Ethical Considerations in Clinical Supervision Clinical supervisors often face many ethical challenges in supervision due to the attendance to the best interests of both the supervisee and the supervisee’s clients. Supervisors need to consider the ethical issues that arise such as vicarious liability, informed consent, confidentiality, duty to warn, and multiple relationships. This presentation highlights the ethical standards and the Forester-Davis and Miller ethical decision making model for the supervisor-supervisee relationship.
