Using a Multicultural Perspective to Discuss Counseling
Issues with Parents Learning Objectives: Participants will (a) develop an understanding of the importance of using a multicultural perspective talking to parents about issues in counseling (b) developing strategies to talk and work with parents to better aid the counseling interventions for practice from the counseling practice to home, and (c) develop strategies to build better communication with parents. Communication with parents is one of the important components of the relationship when working with children in the counseling setting. The workshop helps attendees understand the importance of using a cultural perspective when talking to parents about interventions and next steps in the counseling process with their children. Additionally, this workshop focuses on building communication skills and strategies that are culturally focused to ensure that parents and mental health professionals are on the same page in communicating.
