Navigating Multiple Relationships in Supervision
Multiple relationships often present challenges within counseling relationships and are often seen as a boundary violation between a counselor and a client; however there appears to be more acceptance of boundary crossings when the multiple relationship is related to the supervisory relationship between the supervisor and supervisee. In this presentation, the speaker will explore the unique issues related to multiple relationships in supervision and how multiple relationships in supervision are different compared to multiple relationships in the counselor-client relationship. In addition, the speakers will highlight the related ethical standards from the ACA Code of Ethics on supervision and multiple relationships. Participants will consider the differences between boundary crossings and violations, reflect on their perceptions of their role as supervisors, and discuss the importance of developing self-awareness when maintaining multiple relationships in supervision.
This workshop will award 3.0 CE clock hours for professional counselors; it was not reviewed for NBCC credits.
