Ethical Considerations for Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisors
Clinical supervisors often face many ethical challenges in supervision due to the attendance to the best interests of both the supervisee and the supervisee’s clients. Supervisors need to consider the ethical issues that arise such as vicarious liability, informed consent, confidentiality, duty to warn, and multiple relationships. Supervisors need to develop and maintain competencies related to the supervisory relationship, as well as be familiar with the ethical standards and best practices in supervision. This presentation highlights the ethical standards and the Forester-Davis and Miller ethical decision-making model for the supervisor-supervisee relationship
