Drug overdose is the number one cause of accidental death in America, and nearly 9 out of 10 people who need help never receive treatment. Stigma directly fuels this crisis in several ways, which will be discussed in detail during the presentation. Define stigma and demonstrate its impact on individuals with substance use disorders, as well as its impact on providers, the healthcare system and structure.
