8:30 AM - 3:15 PM
Location: webinar, Webinar

The content of the conference will focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and maternal trauma. Despite their prevalence (1 in 7 pregnant women) and impact on pregnancy and neonatal outcomes, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are underdiagnosed and undertreated. The conference will provide up-to-date research and clinical guidance regarding screening, diagnosis, and treatment options for mood an anxiety disorders during pregnancy and postpartum. It will also discuss social and cultural factors that impact the perinatal period, including issues related to equity and maternal mental health. Finally, the content will present research on developmental origins of health and disease, and the impact of early environmental influences (including maternal depression) during critical periods of development and growth.

At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participants should be better able to effectively: • Describe the unique interplay of variables that result in traumatic birth • Understand the Developmental Origins of Health & Disease conceptual model • Identify the scope of symptoms, comorbidities and diversities associated with identifying and treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS) effectively • Gain an understanding of the different maternal mental issues that can arise in the post-partum period, and how they can be identified in the pediatric setting .
