These Legal Workshops will provide professionals with specific information about the real, everyday legal issues faced by Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and other kinship caregivers. In Louisiana, 1 in 9 children live with a grandparent or other kinship care provided. These situations bring up major legal, relational, and economic issues for the families. This legal workshop provides information and resource identification for grandparents struggling with custody, support, or other legal issues.

These workshops provide direct information from an attorney skilled at family law to grandparents raising grandchildren concerning legal issues of custody, visitation, support issues, and allows for direct discussion. Members of the audience will also share specific, real, everyday legal concerns that they are facing as they make a family for their grandchildren. This approach will be very instructive to professionals who are providing professional assistance to the grandparents and/ or the children in their care.
