In our modern world, technology plays a part in all factors of life, including dating, relationships, and sex. As relationships move online, so too does abuse. Our culture has come a long way in discussing sexual abuse, but conversations about online abuse are still very taboo. Many survivors of this type of abuse experience intense shame and stigma, and mental health professionals may unwittingly perpetuate victim-blaming. This workshop will explore the phenomena of online abuse and nonconsensual image sharing, touching on legal and clinical considerations for mental health professionals.
The presenter is Brittany Hunt LCSW who has worked for 7 years in the anti-sexual violence and reproductive justice movements. She has worked with survivors of sexual assault in clinical, medical, legal, and military settings.
This workshop will award 1.5 CE clock hours for professional counselors; no NBCC credits are available for this program.
