In this presentation, participants will gain an understanding of the different types of grief which will allow them to develop an appropriate treatment plan when working with clients. Further, they will learn the necessary tools for diagnosing grief per the most recent changes to the DSM (DSM V-TR). A brief background of the controversy surrounding the argument for or against a bereavement diagnosis inclusion will be provided. Case studies will be used to assist in applying the diagnostic criteria.
