Trauma Informed Treatment: Working with Adults of Childhood Trauma

This presentation will introduce various trauma theories, diagnosis, and treatment approaches for a comprehensive understanding of developmental trauma.  Participants will be introduced to childhood developmental trauma, how it affects the biology of the nervous system, and how it presents in current mental health symptoms. By the end of the presentation, participants will understand a few bottom up” trauma therapies for current symptoms related to childhood developmental trauma. Participants will be able to describe and identify symptoms and types of developmental trauma. They will be able to identify dissociation traits and utilize the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES) and PTSD Checklist. Participants will be able to identify and diagnose PTSD. Participants will also understand Polyvagal Theory, Deep Brain Theory, and EMDR Therapy based theory for understanding and treating trauma.
