This 3-hour workshop is sponsored by Beacon Behavioral.  Sherrand Crespo, LCSW will present this 2-part workshop. 

The learning objectives below will explain the two subject.

Crisis, Trauma, and De-escalation”_

  1. Gain an understanding of what create a crisis state in the brain 2. Be able to identify sympathetic vs. parasympathetic brain function 3. Gain an understanding of what constitutes a traumatic event 4. Learn and be able to utilize active listening and nonviolent communication as de-escalation skills 5. Will be able to create a custom coping and relaxation plan to restore neocortical functioning 6. Gain knowledge of local resources

“Suicide Education and Responses”_

1. Gain understanding of the current statistics on suicide 2. Be able to Identify facts vs. myths surrounding suicide 3. Learn how the stigma surrounding suicide creates an increased feeling of isolation which increases risk 4. Be able to identify risk factors for suicide ideation and determine how they may increase intensity of ideation or capability 5. Will be able to conduct a conversational suicide risk assessment 6. Will be able to utilize an ambivalence statement to transition into creating an individualized safety plan 7. Gain knowledge of local resources for client and personal use__
