Healing Her Whole Self: A Female-Centered Approach to Recovery and Resilience

This immersive training is designed for clinicians working with adult women navigating the complex intersections of eating disorders, shame, and family dynamics. Grounded in evidence-based practice and trauma-informed care, Healing Her Whole Self takes a holistic, female-centered approach to recovery and resilience.

Participants will explore the spectrum of eating disorder diagnoses and disordered eating behaviors, with a focus on how behavioral and cognitive symptoms uniquely manifest in women. The training will introduce evidence-based assessment tools and treatment planning protocols that adapt to varying levels of acuity and care.

Building on this foundation, the training delves into the impact of shame on women using Shame Resilience Theory (SRT) and Family Systems Theory (FST). Clinicians will learn to identify shame triggers, differentiate shame from guilt, and explore how gender roles and family systems perpetuate shame. Practical strategies will be shared for integrating SRT and FST into therapy to promote self-compassion, healing, and systemic change.

The final component, The Mirror Image of the Family Dis-Ease, offers a powerful lens into the dynamics of substance use disorder (SUD) and codependency. Through this framework, participants will examine how the symptoms and behaviors of untreated SUD and codependency mirror each other within the family system, deepening understanding of intergenerational patterns and reinforcing the need for integrated treatment.

This training is ideal for clinicians seeking a comprehensive, culturally responsive approach to supporting women in recovery—one that honors the full spectrum of their experience and empowers sustainable healing at both the individual and systemic level.
