From anxiety related to an upcoming surgery to trauma after an ICU stay, medical experiences are often associated with a number of mental health challenges, especially when managing long-term health issues. Mental health professionals play a pivotal role in the management of chronic pain and chronic illness by promoting resilience and healthy coping tools. This interactive presentation will review DSM diagnosis criteria for mental health diagnosis associated with chronic illness and will review practical tools and strategies for treatment planning to support long-term wellness.
