Presented by The BACH Group, this 2.5-hour continuing education workshop offers Licensed Professional Counselors and other mental health professionals an in-depth exploration of religious trauma often referred to as church hurt. Designed to enhance trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, this session examines how spiritual abuse, faith-based shame, and religious environments can impact emotional development, self-identity, and mental health.
Grounded in the LPC educational domains of Human Growth and Development, Social and Cultural Foundations, The Helping Relationship, and Diagnosis, the workshop equips clinicians with practical tools to recognize and treat the psychological and spiritual effects of religious trauma. Participants will engage in clinically focused discussions and strategies that foster healing, empathy, and ethical care for clients navigating faith-related wounds.
