It's Really All The Thoughts Fault: A CBT Approach for Anxiety Work with Kids and Teens

Description/Learning Objectives:

The topics that will be covered during this presentation consist of: The definition of a traumatic event for children and adolescents, the experiences and impact of trauma, Gestalt Play Therapy principles and other modalities that focus on client empowerment, what brings children/adolescents into therapy as the result of a trauma, the significance of the relationship with the counselor to empower the client, and interventions that promote client empowerment from a Gestalt lens after experiencing trauma.

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to

  1. State the three parts of the cognitive triangle
  2. Be able to explain the interactions of the three parts in a developmentally appropriate way to kids and teens
  3. State two interventions for each of the three parts of the cognitive triangle

This course has been approved by the Louisiana Counseling Association for 1 CE credit hour in Diagnosis. All participants must be actively engaged in the meeting full-time to receive credit. Anyone signing in more than five minutes after the start of the presentation will not receive credit.

The Louisiana Counseling Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP #2019.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  LCA is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.
