Emotionally Focused Therapy has numerous research studies illuminating effective strategies for conceptualizing and working with emotions with individuals, couples, and families. This presentation will briefly survey attachment theory and the empirical studies utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy. We will conceptualize emotions using the Emotionally Focused Therapy Framework, review strategies for incorporating Emotionally Focused Therapy Interventions in clinical practice with couples and families, and practice utilizing the micro-interventions of Emotionally Focused Therapy.
