Purpose:

This is an annual award honoring a person who gives to others without fanfare or expectation of reward other than personal satisfaction in seeing other persons made happier or the knowledge that some segment of society is enhanced. In summary, a caring person will have been observed in unselfish involvement over a period of time in a cause, project, or program that benefits others more than self.
