The Louisiana Association of Marriage and Family Counselors seeks to assist couples and families with relationship issues and difficulties that arise in daily life by utilizing a systemic perspective. LAMFC seeks to help develop healthy family systems through prevention, education, and therapy.
LAMFC is a state branch of the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MARRAIGE AND FAMILY COUNSELORS (IAMFC). LAMFC will be autonomous in the conduct of its affairs but will be organized and operated in compliance with the by-laws of IAMFC.
The purposes for which LAMFC is formed are to enhance marriage and the family: by conducting and fostering programs of education in the field of marriage and family counseling; by stimulating, promoting, and conducting programs of research in the field of marriage and family counseling; by conducting scientific and educational meetings and conferences; by establishing contacts with other organizations for scientific and educational pursuits; by examining conditions which create barriers to marriage and families, and working to remove them; and to engage in such other activities as may be desirable or required to accomplish the foregoing objects and purposes.
