The result of the COVID -19 pandemic has drastically changed the way in which counselors provide clinical services. As the need to move to a virtual platform has become a necessity, the way in which clinical and university supervision is facilitated has also changed. Supervision, like counseling services, has moved to a virtual platform, and for some this has become a constant without a move back to in person supervision. The importance of the virtual supervision process needs to be understood by the individuals providing supervision. The major tenets of the supervision process may still be present, but may manifest differently when using a virtual platform. The virtual platform utilized during the supervision process can present some challenges to both the supervisor and the individuals receiving supervision. Supervision is an essential part of the counseling process and if the provided supervision is ineffective due to the use of a virtual platform, client services may not be effective.
