Presentation Abstract:
This presentation will provide education on models of supervision, the application of multicultural frameworks to deepen participants' understanding of competent supervision. Our profession is growing and continues to reflect the changing world. It is imperative that we all continue to challenge ourselves to do the personal work. Reflection and dialogue will greatly be encouraged. As counselors and supervisors, we have an ethical and moral code to uphold. We must critically engage with the content; we must identify how the information resonates with us and how it impacts our perspective humanity. We counselors are the vessel toward change. Let's ensure the change is positive.
Learning Objectives:
This presentation will provide a foundation to cultural competent supervision. This presentation is designed to provide a foundation around the primary theories of supervision. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the multicultural deficiencies of the supervision models. Participants will be asked to do a self-exploration of their social location and their clientele to identify their role in enhancing culturally competent supervision.
