Gain an intro to the neurobiology of mental health along with tools to apply immediately into practice with clients. A neurobiological perspective is a trauma-informed approach to counseling.
Counselors will gain information about the neurobiological functions of mental health.
1) Gain a foundational understanding of Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory and how it can be utilized in a psychotherapeutic context
2) Gain a basic understanding of the function of the Autonomic Nervous System, with special focus on the vagus nerve
3) Gain an understanding of the relationship between the vagus nerve and healing from trauma
4) Identifiy interventions to befriend the nervous system responses
5) Learn techniques that stimulate the vagus nerve
