The Opioid Discussion

This workshop will inform participants about local impact of the opioid crisis. Participants will learn how to recognize sings and symptoms of opioid use, opioid use disorder, and opioid overdose. Participants will also learn about local grant funded resources for this addiction.

Presenters for this event will cover the cycle of opioid addiction and disease model. Dr. Frederick Heard and Amanda Swartout, LPC will share an in-depth review of medication assisted treatment and how methadone, suboxone, and vivitrol work with counseling for opioid addiction. Dr. Robin Hogue will review co-occurring disorders and the impact of untreated opioid use disorders have on mental health.
