Improving Your Group Therapy Skills

Location: Jewish Family Services, 3300 W. Esplanade #603, Metairie

This three hour CEU will focus on the ways counselors, social workers and therapists can improve their group counseling and therapy skills. Audience participation is expected. The areas that help make for successful groups will be highlighted. Strengths of each participant will be discussed and areas for improvement will be addressed. Theory and evidenced based practices will be focused on. Attention will be given for groups with different age groups; children adolescents, adults and the elderly. How to do better and more effective groups is the basic premise. Diagnostic issues for clients and varied populations will also be discussed. A hand out will be provided. The teaching methods will be didactic, interactional, sharing of cases, and possible role play or video material.

This workshop has been approved for 3.0 clock hours of continuing education credits from the Louisiana Counseling Association as authorized by the Louisiana Professional Counselor Licensing Board of Examiners.    Even though LCA is a NBCC ACEP, there are no NBCC credits approved for this workshop.
