Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders

 

This presentation will provide the attendee with the basics of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD), promoting identification of PMAD’s, discussing prevalence, and how to provide support for use in the field. We will also foster group discussion and activities regarding these issues

 

Behavioral Objective 1: Expand understand of the basics of perinatal mental health including identification and prevalence: 30 minutes

Behavioral Objective 2: Expand their knowledge of specific diagnosis of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders: 30 minutes

Behavioral Objective 3: Provide a greater understanding of how PMAD's (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) effect mothers, partners, and families: 30 minutes

Behavioral Objective 4: Discuss ways to provide support and clinical interventions: 30 minutes

 Presenter Bio:

Joy Couvillion Louis, LCSW-BACS, PMH-C, has been a Social Worker in the New Orleans area since graduating with her MSW from Tulane University School of Social Work in 2000. She has worked with vulnerable populations involving children and families within nonprofit, for profit, and governmental settings. Ms. Louis completed a Fellowship in Infant Mental Health from the Tulane Department of Psychiatry and has a current Perinatal Mental Health Certification from PSI (Postpartum Support International). Ms. Louis worked most recently as an Infant Mental Health Specialist for Tulane"s TBEARS program. She currently serves families as well as provides clinical supervision in her private practice: Joyful Thoughts, LLC. 

This workshop has been approved for 2.0 CE clock hours; it was not reviewed for NBCC credits.
