CE Description:

Dr. Katherine Godshall will present information surrounding suicide risk and protective factors across the lifespan. This CE will use Systems Theory to explore and discuss risk/protective factors. During this training we will explore the current data on suicide rates in the US, recommended suicide risk assessments, and common risk factors and protective factors.

 

Objectives:

  1. Become familiar with current suicide rates and information in the US
  2. Learn recommended suicide risk assessments
  3. Identify relationship between systems and suicide risk

 

Agenda:

9a-915: Introduction and Review of Objectives

9:15- 9:45: Review Data of Suicide rates, methods, and state averages

9:45-10:45: Suicide Risk Assessments- Columbia, SAFE-T, Brief Suicide Safety Assessment, etc.

10:45-11: Break

11-Noon- Application of systems theory in identifying protective and risk factors- individual, family, community and policies.

Noon- 12:15- questions and course evaluation

 

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Katie Godshall is the owner of Behavioral Health Learning Collaborative, LLC. She graduated from Tulane School of Social in 2010 with her MSW and certificate in disaster mental health; and in 2019 with her Doctorate in Social Work. During her doctorate program, she researched suicide prevention, grief, loss, and historical and intergenerational trauma. Dr. Godshall started her social work career in New Orleans working with an Assertive Community Treatment team. She moved onto work with the Crisis response team and sexual assault response on-call. Dr. Godshall managed a crisis respite facility, worked in hospice, provided individual, family and group therapy, and trained master level counseling and social work interns. In early January 2020, she launched the Behavioral Health Learning Collaborative which provides CEUs, organizational and clinical consulting and the LCSW supervision. Dr. Godshall also works an Adjunct Professor with Tulane University and her research interests are in the fields of trauma, grief and resiliency.

 Approved for 3.0 CE clock hours including 1 hour Diagnosis; it was not reviewed for NBCC hours.
