Business Model Development Training for Louisiana Medicaid Behavioral Health Providers

Business models are seldom discussed in the behavioral health world, yet the success of behavioral health agencies depends so heavily on them. Many behavioral health providers struggle with business aspects of their work, such as building up referrals, marketing their services, structuring their teams, and more. When implementing evidence-based practices, these challenges can tend to be amplified.

To initiate the conversation on business model development in behavioral health for Louisiana providers, the Center for Evidence to Practice collaborated with Dr. Matthew Thornton, the Director of the Center for Children and Families. Based in Monroe, Dr. Thornton has been a visionary leader in expanding his agency’s reach across Louisiana and into western Mississippi. His agency has four sites implementing EBPs including MST, FFT, FFT-CW, and TF-CBT.   This four-lesson course will also soon be offered as an in-person workshop.

This webinar-series on Business Model Development consists of a four series course based on research-informed best practices for behavioral health agencies. Content in this series includes the five elements of effective organizations, how to market their behavioral health agencies with purpose, tips for various financial elements such as budgeting and billing, and managing referrals and staff, and overall leadership.

The Center for Evidence to Practice is offering an online Business Model Development Course targeted at Louisiana’s behavioral health providers. This course is free-of charge and offered online at the Center for Evidence to Practice’s online learning platform, E2P Learn.
