Location: Webinar; Sponsored by the Institute for Natural Resources; 6.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis; cost: $83.00,

This workshop will cover various personality disorders including the symptoms, treatment and diagnosis. Further, this workshop will discuss how these disorders affect daily life and relationships.

Counselors do not have a case load comprised of relaxed, happy, healthy, well-adjusted patients. Complex psycho-social problems, chronic illness, financial strain, family breakdown, substance abuse and a host of other dilemmas create overwhelming burdens. These professionals, their agencies and institutions, patients and caregivers alike struggle nonstop. This seminar, Personality Disorders, Anxiety & Depression, is designed to help counselors enhance their understanding of common and complicated psychological conditions. Encountered every day in hospitals, long-term care settings, private offices, schools, country and state facilities, these conditions & disorders can be a real impediment to good care. However, those working in the fields of social work, counseling, and marriage & family therapy, who deepen their insights into these challenges can help their colleagues and patients alike achieve better outcomes. Topics of particular interest include: ? How people learn to perceive “ reality” ? The influence of genetic factors on personality ? Behaviors associated with narcissistic & borderline personality disorders ? How early-life stress can lead to PTSF and self-destructive behaviors ? Gambling & hoarding as manifestations of OCD ? How insomnia, stress & chronic pain can engender depression ? Coping with bipolar patients ? Comprehensive approaches to the patient with anxiety and depression Counselors will also appreciate a practical discussion on pros & cons of commonly used medications, counseling and complementary therapies.
