PTSD & Eating Disorders in the Military

1. Presenter will provide summary of primary Eating Disorder diagnoses, Levels of Care within treatment and composition of the Inter-disciplinary approach.
2. Presenter will provide some background on why people join the military family and those some of those characteristics intersect with Risk Factors for Eating Disorders.
3. We will examine how current attitudes towards the diagnosis have influenced the treatment of those with the illness.
4. We will explore current Weight and Fitness standards and some consequences of failure.
5. We will explore the link between Trauma and development of Eating Disorders symptoms and general functions of Eating Disorder behaviors.
6. Identify who and what we are treating in the military
7. Identify Effective options for those who have experienced trauma or PTSD
8. Identify EMDR and its effectiveness
