Join us on November 10th and 11th, 2021 for a 2-day training - Introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy with a special focus on Working with Challenging Parts of Client and Therapist. If you have already completed an IFS Level 1 course you are welcome to only join day two where the focus will be working with challenging parts.
Internal Family Systems is a transformative and evidence-based model of psychotherapy. IFS is a recognized and proven method for individual psychotherapy with a robust training program and thousands of certified therapists. It will help transform the stuck parts of your clients and yourself into inner resources of strength, love, and freedom.
IFS understands the mind to be naturally multiple and recognizes a multiple mind to be a good thing. Our inner parts contain valuable qualities and our core Self knows how to heal, allowing us to become integrated and whole. In IFS all parts are welcome.
This ten hour course will teach the basics of the Internal Family Systems model and how it is used with clients to resolve psychological issues and bring psychological healing to enhance self-confidence and well-being.
The IFS Institute only recognizes their Level 1 Course as an official step toward eventual certification as an IFS Therapist or Practitioner. The training you are considering now is not a training toward certification. However, it is led by Tamala Floyd, LCSW, who is a Level 3 Certified IFS Therapist and Supervisor. This training will be an effective way to learn more about IFS, a model that is quickly increasing in popularity.
Recommended reading prior to this training is "Introduction to the Internal Family Systems Model" by Richard Schwartz.
Tamala Floyd, LCSW-BACS is a psychotherapist, consultant, author and IFS trainer. She received a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. She has over 25 years of experience working with children, families, and women with trauma histories. Tamala has worked in various settings including schools, criminal justice, hospitals, mental health agencies and in private practice. She has expertise in childhood sexual abuse, women’s sexual trauma and domestic violence. Tamala serves as an expert witness in child welfare and women’s sexual assault cases. She has a chapter in the upcoming book entitled, “Internal Family Systems Therapy: Supervision and Consultation,” with an expected release date of early 2022. Her chapter focuses on IFS consultation with BIPOC therapists.
She has been married to her husband, Ernest for 23 years, they have five adult children between them, three who are adopted.

2. Participants will be able to identify protective parts and practice developing relationships with them.
