The Effects of Social Media on Teenage Anxiety

The goal of the presentation is to educate providers on navigating various social media platforms in order to educate adolescents and their families about their potential negative mental health effects. Providers will learn how social media directly influences teenagers and their thought processes, which has been shown to cause increased anxiety. Providers will learn how to communicate with teenagers and their families about using social media appropriately which can increase positive relationships within the family and decrease anxiety.

The presenter,  Natasha Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners.
