This training will include content on the helping relationship with clients and team relationships.  Diagnosis and treatment planning will be covered. Some areas of the DSM 5 will be discussed. Severe mental health and addictive disorders will be discussed. Theoretical models with varied populations will be addressed, including children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Some aspects of group therapy will be focused on as well. Ethical concerns and ethical dilemmas will be highlighted. Chemical and Behavioral addictions will be compared. The presentation will be given with the sensitivity and awareness of cultural, gender, sexual, and lifestyle differences in our clients and how to best help our clients with co-occurring disorders, combined mental health and addictive disorders.

This presentation will focus on helping mental health professionals improve their skills when helping clients who have co-occurring disorders. That is clients with combined mental health and addictive disorders. Diagnosis and treatment planning discussions will occur for children, adolescents, and adults. Evidenced base practice models will be emphasized.  Sensitivity and knowledge for culture, gender, sexuality, and lifestyle differences will be emphasized for our clients.
