Motivational Interviewing (MI) has often been used to treat individuals living with substance use disorders. This form of treatment can also be applied to various co-occurring mental health and physical diagnoses. The skills associated with MI can be helpful for various populations who may struggle to take steps towards change. MI can also be integrated with other therapeutic techniques. Participants will identify how to help clients identify the benefits of change while identifying new skills to enhance motivation. Participants will also identify ways to apply MI for difficult clinical encounters.
