Utilizing Exposure Therapy in the Treatment of OCD

5/27/2022 - 5/27/2022
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Webinar; Sponsored by the Telehealth Certification Institute; Cost: $40.00; approved for 1.5 CE clock hours in Diagnosis, Webinar

It is not uncommon for individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) to have strong, aversive reactions to situations that occur in everyday life.  If we understand OCD as an emotional disorder, then we should consider interventions that have demonstrated efficacy with other disorders with similar underlying mechanisms, such as generalized anxiety and panic disorders. Transdiagnostic interventions that approach, rather than avoid, emotion increase emotional tolerance and decrease the drive to use OCD rituals and behaviors as a means to manage emotional distress. This workshop will explore the rationale and application of evidence-based emotion exposure interventions for the treatment of OCD.
