Motivational Interviewing (MI) has been an effective evidence-based toolkit that can be applied to a diverse population with various needs. The spirit of MI consisting of mutual respect and collaboration can help resolve ambivalence and enhance an individual’s motivation to make positive life changes. This presentation will review the basic foundational concepts of MI for client success. This presentation will provide a step-by-step guide to assist clinicians with helping clients engage in change. This presentation will also discuss ways to navigate potential roadblocks for clients struggling to engage in change.
