10:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Location: St. James Place, 333 Lee Drive, Sponsored by Beacon Behavioral Center, Approved for 3.0 CE clock hour in Diagnosis, Baton Rouge

Adults of a retirement community will be invited to the first portion of this workshop in order to share space with older adults and invite the residents to also learn about ageism and how they may be affected.

The second half of the workshop continues to educate social workers about the everyday ageist attack and how they contribute to depression in our clients.  Social workers will learn about implicit bias and how it affects our perspectives about our clients and can contribute to inadequate treatment further exacerbating their depression.

Tools to use in therapy with older adults will be reviewed.

Examples of evidence-based programs and toolboxes will also be introduced to social workers and new resources available to social workers and their clients will be examined.
