10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Location: Covington Behavioral Health, 201 Greenbriar Blvd; Cost: free; Approved for 3.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis, Covington In Perso

Deborah Allsbrook , LLPC-S and Kathy Lammert, LPC-S will present this  3 -hour session.

PTSD can be thought of as a persistent reaction to a maladaptive situation that effects roughly
13% of combat Veterans. A corollary construct to PTSD, moral injury, may better account for
the clinical presentation of some combat exposed Military Members. Counselors and Social
workers who have a more nuanced understanding of moral injury may ultimately better serve
those Military Members who present for treatment after having experienced combat related
trauma. An understanding of Military culture is also vital to providing treatment to both active-
duty Military and Veterans. Posttraumatic growth and other treatment considerations, such as the
role of comorbid conditions, will also be explored.
Learning Objectives:
? Participants will learn about emerging definitions and preliminary models of moral injury
? Participants will be able to identify the role that moral injury plays in some combat
exposed Military members who present with symptoms of PTSD
? Participants will be able to identify treatment considerations, such as co-morbid
conditions
? Participants will gain an understanding of Military culture and structure
? Participants will gain an understanding of the role of the Military family.
This workshop is approved for 3.0 CE clock hours in Diagnosis; no NBCC credit is available for this program
