Pastors: Endangered Species? Creating Healthy Environments for Pastors and Ministry Leaders

3/31/2023 - 3/31/2023
11:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Location: !st Baptist Church, 57331 Claiborne Ave., Sponsored by Restoration Counseling; Cost: $130.00; Approved for 1.0 CE Clock hours, New Orleans

The Barna statistics reveal that the percentage of pastors seriously considering leaving the ministry has increased in the last year from 29% to 42%. Where is the outcry? Where are the “Save our Pastors” banners and bumper stickers? The relentless pressures of ministry lead many pastors to burnout and depression, substance abuse, or sexual transgressions. Yet simply looking at the moral failings and the ways they can be avoided is only half of the issue. There are aspects of the faith-based culture and structures that have fostered environments that are self-destructive to our ministry leaders. Every aspect of the faith-based community needs to take ownership of its part in this unhealthy environment so that the Body of Christ can be a safe place of healing and restoration for everyone. This workshop will help attendees gain a deeper understanding of the components of creating a healthy and caring environment for pastors, ministry leaders, and their families.

Approved for 1.0 CE clock hour; no NBCC credit available for this workshop.
