The speakers are working to foster community understanding of the crisis continuum in Louisiana including the 988 system as well as community understanding of how to access the system, the benefit of a voluntary crisis system of care, and how these services can have a long term impact on the care experience of individuals in crisis. Their goal is to reduce the utilization of unnecessarily restrictive interventions (e.g. coercive treatments, emergency departments, arrests, jails, etc.) for individuals in crisis, when that level of involvement is not warranted.
