Drug overdose deaths in Louisiana, and the nation, have skyrocketed over the last several years prompting the declaration of a Public Health Emergency. Increasing access to naloxone and to evidence-based treatments for substance use disorder have been proven to reduce overdose mortality rates.  The CA Bridge Model identified the Emergency Department as a critical intervention point for increasing linkages to care for persons at high risk of overdose death.  Their straight-forward, evidenced-based model works with hospital EDs to provide immediate access to medication for addiction treatment, navigation to ongoing care, and a culture of caring in the hospital setting.  Two hospitals in Louisiana participated in a CA Bridge pilot program receiving 1:1 technical assistance and training for implementation. In this presentation, two CA Bridge founders will present the CA Bridge Model and members of the LA Bridge team will discuss implementation success in local LA hospitals.

Melissa Stainbeck, Ph.D., Tanya McGee, Sarah Windels, and Arianna Campbell, PA-C will be presenting “Addiction IS an Emergency: The Bridge Model of Care” on June 12, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM.  This is a free virtual event.  Please visit www.womansfoundation.com/loas to register.
